Online Chinese Dating – Compatibility Based On The Chinese Zodiak by Staff Writer
It is a well known fact that Chinese people in general have a firm belief in the concept of celestial bodies affecting the life and relationships of individuals in multiple ways. That is why seeking astrological compatibility with their life mates is one of most important aspects of initiating a long term relationship for these people. Contrary to the common belief that this practice is limited to only real world matchmaking, a large percentage of native Chinese using Chinese dating websites to find their ideal partners like to check out their astrological compatibility prior to deciding the future of their relationship.

When dating Chinese women online, knowing the Chinese Zodiak matters! Borrowed from with gratitude.

Most often foreigners are surprised by the enquiries about their birth year and date by their Chinese dating partners. This is because they are generally unaware of the fact that according to Chinese astrological beliefs, the personality and traits of every individual are influenced greatly by the year in which they are born, which make them romantically compatible only with individuals born in particular years. However, here the year of birth does not correspond to a numerical value but is in fact related to a specific animal according to the 12 Animals Chinese Zodiac system practiced in this ancient society. Thus people born in the year of the rat are believed to be intellectual and distrustful while those born in the year of the horse love freedom and are open-hearted.
Another common belief of Chinese people is that the level of compatibility between people having an age difference of 4 years is much more than those having a difference of 2 or 6 years. This is because the according to Chinese astrological philosophies, the 12 zodiac years are divided into four perfectly compatible sets which are set exactly four years apart. Each set comprises of three zodiac years and are classified as follows:

1.      Compatibility Set 1: Monkey, Rat and Dragon
2.      Compatibility Set 2: Snake, Rooster and Ox
3.      Compatibility Set 3: Pig, Rabbit  and Goat
4.      Compatibility Set 4: Tiger, Horse and Dog

Apart from the above factors that influence the astrological compatibility of couples, Chinese people also take into consideration the exact month, day and hour of birth of the partners. In many cases foreigners are asked to provide details about the same by their Chinese dating partners, so that they can get their astrological charts prepared for a compatibility check as well as predictions of the future.

Check out your Chinese lady's Zodiak Sign here. This chart was borrowed from with gratitude.

Reply So, now if a woman calls me a pig, she it means I am honest and brave? Will I still get slapped? LOL.

Reply DanRuble: you probably wouldn't receive that slap, but knowing you as we're starting to here in the CLM community, you'd probably deserve to for something :-).

Reply As for a native Chinese, I occasionly hear of such principles, today, this article broadens my knowledge about such things. However, in my opinion, these principles some Chinese people believe in are not reasonable scientifically. For example, there are so many people who were born in the same zodiac year, how comes to it that these people have the same personality and traits? Morover, these principles can't be verified from the real people around.
