Find Your Animal Sign and Your Love this Chinese New Year by CLM Staff Writer
The Chinese Lunar Calendar follows a twelve-year cycle patterned after the Chinese zodiac.  Each year is named after an animal and, according to Chinese beliefs, people take on the characteristics of the animal associated with the year in which they were born.  Your animal sign also influences what sort of personality set you are most compatible with, with regards to platonic or romantic relationships.  If you are a guy whose heart beats faster for, and you're interested in dating, a Chinese woman, it would not hurt to learn about this particular Chinese belief if you want to impress her. Especially with Chinese New Year looming.  It may just be the missing piece that would complete what's been lacking in your romantic life.
Each of the twelve animal signs of the zodiac represents a specific personality set.  It might be a novel and an interesting dating strategy to find out what animal sign best suits your own animal sign if you want to date a Chinese woman.  Firstly, of course, you have to know what animal sign is associated with your year of birth.  Below are the zodiac animals and the years that fall under them in the Chinese Lunar Calendar:

Use this knowledge of the Chinese Zodiak and the opportunity of our Chinese New Year Sweepstakes to find your own Chinese Valentine to love.Rat – 1924, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96, 2008
Ox – 1925, 37, 49, 61, 73, 85, 97, 2009
Tiger – 1926, 38, 50, 62, 74, 86, 98, 2010
Rabbit – 1927, 39, 51, 63, 75, 87, 99, 2011
Dragon – 1928, 40, 52, 64, 76, 88, 2000, 2012
Snake – 1929, 41, 53, 65, 77, 89, 2001, 2013
Horse – 1930, 42, 54, 66, 78, 90, 2002, 2014
Ram – 1931, 43, 55, 67, 79, 91, 2003, 2015
Monkey – 1932, 44, 56, 68, 80, 92, 2004, 2016
Rooster - 1933, 45, 57, 69, 81, 93, 2005, 2017
Dog – 1934, 46, 58, 70, 82, 94, 2006, 2018
Boar – 1935, 47, 59, 71, 83, 95, 2007, 2019

After you have figured out what your animal sign is, you can then easily do a search online of the specific characteristics that accompany your sign.  For example, if you were born on the year of the snake (which is the animal sign for 2013), you would have the following traits: deep thinker, wise, mystic, graceful, soft-spoken, sensual, creative, prudent, shrewd, ambitious, elegant, cautious, responsible, calm, strong, constant, purposeful. Can be loner, bad communicator, possessive, hedonistic, self-doubting, distrustful (source: Wikipedia).

From here, you can then find out what animal sign you would be most compatible with.  This information should be helpful when you visit dating sites to meet Chinese women and to identify which ones have the most potential as a partner.  Even if you are not the superstitious sort, being a modern man from the modern world, this strategy could at least make for a more interesting experience.  It will definitely be a great topic of conversation when you're out on dates with the potential partners you have chosen.  Chinese women will certainly find it entertaining, and perhaps even impressive, that you chose them based on their animal sign.

With Valentine's Day and the Chinese New Year fast approaching, finding Miss Most Likely, if not Miss Right, online should prove simpler if you choose to go the route of Chinese beliefs and zodiac animals.  You never know; as they say, one can find love in the most unlikely of ways.  There's still time to go all out and find a great Chinese lifemate in time for this Valentines Day, and to help you do that we've created a great new contest on our ChinaLoveMatch Facebook page. Check it out and then get to work changing your life for the better!
